Dirty hair? Bedhead? Running late (like me always)? Just too lazy to do a damn thing with your lovely lady locks?

BOOM.
headband-messy-bun-louis-vuittonOkay, so that’s a model wearing (what is most likely) a diamond headband, but this look is certainly easy for us commoners to achieve. Blast your hair with texturizing spray or dry shampoo (if you need it), tease the crown, pull it up in a messy bun, top it off with a headband, and VOILA! A cute, casual look.

But there’s just one risk you have to consider with this simple ‘do: The slippery headband factor. Luckily, I have found the perfect no-slip headbands, courtesy of Atlanta jewelry/accessory designer Jen Boaz. I asked Jen her secret for this coif creation and she said it’s “all in her head.” I see what you did there, gurl.

headbands

I like them so much, I double them up. (The verdict is still out on whether it actually looks good.)
jen boaz headbandsThey’re cute, they’re inexpensive ($16-$18), and they stay put. But more importantly, we’re giving them away! For the chance to win one of FIVE headbands (of your choice):
1. Like Witty + Pretty on Facebook.
2. Like Jen Boaz Jewelry on Facebook.
3. Leave a comment on this entry stating a time when you needed a quick, cute hair fix (last-minute date, woke up late for work, gym sesh when you know you’ll see your crush, etc.). The winners will be picked at random by 5 p.m. Friday.

And for one lucky winner, Jen may even throw in a pair of earrings (like these lightweight gems I wear on the reg).

Just (up)do it.

Ashley

  1. Woke up late one day and needed a cute ‘do for work. Oh wait that’s every day.

  2. I need a no-slip headband right this minute. I was out a little late last night (hot date) and this morning I “snoozed” as long as possible. A shower had to be skipped. All day today I have parent/teacher conferences and my hair is bleh.

Where’s a cute headband when I need one?!? (all of mine slip off my fat head)

  3. I need a headband so I can pull my curly hair back & have it still look cute when it decides to frizz, get curlier, etc. This happens several times a week!!

  5. I have crazy curly hair that frizzes and only looks good for about 20 minutes after a blow-out. The no-slip headband is as critical as Diet Coke in the morning

  6. Woke up this morning and had no time to blow dry my locks, so I pulled my hair up into a boring bun. This tends to happen a lot lately… blame laziness. WISH I could find a headband that stays put – I’ve tried so many that totally suck.

  7. When you live OTP and stay at a friend’s house in town to go drinking and when you wake up hungover and want to stop for brunch on the way home. I’d totally use it for that anyway…

  8. I just went on a business trip for a photo shoot and we had crazy early mornings… like 5am… and late nights. This didn’t lend itself well to, say, showering on a regular basis. I so could have used one of these beauties to pull back my un-washed locks as I ran around getting props together… trying not to offend my coworkers TOO much.

  13. I’m ALWAYS waking up late for work and having to spray in some dry shampoo or throw it in a boring ponytail. I have never been able to find headbands like these that actually stay put on my head. I’d love to try them out!

  14. I go to a lot of meetings that involve work with a client (for which I need to look decent) and then going into a dirty old building or on a construction site and crawling around in the crawlspace or attic or other areas with no headroom. I have tried SO many headbands that just slide off the back of my head instead of holding my hair out of my face – these look great!
