I’m a water snob. And no, I don’t mean in the “I only drink Smartwater or Fiji” way. I mean that my taste buds are very sensitive when it comes to H2O, so I prefer top-notch aqua from a spring or a good filter. For the record, I think Dasani is gross and it’s actually water from the Chattahoochee that they somehow turn clear.

I (used to) buy a ton of bottled water and of course I recycle, although I still hate the thought of all that plastic. But I’ve never found a reusable bottle that didn’t make the water taste funny…until now.
bkrSay hello to your BFF: The Bkr ($28). It’s GLASS (amazing), but has a silicone sleeve (with color names like Bambi and Scout) so it’s cute AND protected (but I wouldn’t go throwing it against a brick wall or anything). As for the technical stuff:  Food grade polypropylene cap + silicone gasket, FDA approved, BPA-free, BPA replacement free, and phthalate free. I’m guessing that all translates to “Won’t give you cancer.”

Bkr’s are dishwasher-safe (just remove the sleeve) and they hold 16 ounces of fluid (size of a standard bottle of water), but the compact design makes them seem super small and they fit perfectly in your bag (not to mention that handy handle). Compare to another 16-ouncer with a not-so-genius design:
IMG_8598I’m so obsessed, you guys. And I’ve been feeling like such a planet saver now that I’m filling my Bkr from my filter instead of grabbing a plastic bottle when I leave the house.

Cara and I have been hitting the bottle hard at Flywheel and Flybarre

In Atlanta, you can find these gems at Atlanta Activewear (remember, the store that got me into red spandex pants?) and of course, you can order online (PS, a portion of proceeds goes to charity). Rumor has it, they’re coming out with a liter size soon.

Oh, and one more thing. Gisele uses one.

Ok, I need this. I’m obsessed with water bottles… in fact, I just cleaned 6 out of my car last night. That was embarrassing. Shouldn’t have admitted that…

  2. Chris says:

How many reusable bottles did you go through until you found “the one”? Cold water in the fridge via brita pitcher at home doesn’t appeal to my wife and we’ve got multiple reusables that I’ve picked up trying to convince her to use them instead of store bought… she’s just not on board.

      Hey Chris!
I’ve tried reusable ones out for YEARS – plastic, stainless steel, etc. I know she’ll love this one. I’m telling you – I’m SUCH a water snob and this has been a game changer. Also, you can’t deny the celeb appeal – every celeb from Gisele to Blake Lively, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Garner, etc. use one! http://www.mybkr.com/press.asp

You say that you have to remove the sleeve, but I just bought one, and I swear that the tag said I don’t have to…but of course I threw it away too fast. Do you know if we have to remove the sleeve to put in the dishwasher?

    1. Ashley Hesseltine says:

      Hi Jess!
So, they told me to remove it at the store where I bought it, but looks like Bkr says you don’t have to! http://www.mybkr.com/faq.asp. Although if you want to remove it, I know that it just rolls down easily. So it’s your preference! I may have to update my blog now. 🙂 Hope you’re enjoying it!

  4. […] (again). A GALLON?! And yes, it sounds like a lot, but if you drink it throughout the day (in your fashionable BKR bottle, perhaps), it’s nbd. And she’s absolutely right; increasing your water intake can […]
