Alright. Maybe I shouldn’t admit this, but…I just recently got the full lowdown on e.l.f. cosmetics, or as I like to call it, The Mother F’ing Doller Store of Makeup.

While searching through a bag of product samples and freebies I’ve received recently (I’m sorry you guys, but I get free stuff), I pulled out a tube of e.l.f Hypershine Gloss, was intrigued by its twist pump + brush applicator, and immediately took it to my lips.

I was in love. It was smooth and silky without being sticky, gave my kisser a glorious tint and shine, and smelled and tasted delish. I hurried to the website to scope out the price point and saw that this product (which has been featured in Allure and Elle, btw) was $1.

I put my glasses on and looked again. Still $1.

WTF? I scoured the rest of the site to discover a slew of desirable products that cost less than a #1 at Chick-fil-a. Blushes and eye shadows for $3! All-over color stick for $1! A set of 12 brushes for $12! A 144-piece eyeshadow palette for…wait for it…$15.

I said 144. That wasn’t a typo.

I had heard the line was cheap and have seen it at Target, but I had no idea I could be buying awesome lipgloss with the change from my couch cushions. I was especially intrigued by the travel-friendly lotion wipes (even though I can’t stand the word “wipes”) in scents like vanilla coconut (you know I love coconut) and cucumber melon. They’ve been featured in Cosmo. Oh, and they’re $3. Half the price of a vodka drink at a dive bar.

And get this. Through June 11, you get $10 off your purchase of $25 online. If you’ve been doing any math while reading this post, you know that for $25, you could basically buy an entire new makeup collection. Now I can’t vouch for all of these products and in some cases, you may get what you pay for (I’ll stick with my pricey foundation and bronzer, thank you), but from my research, the line is legit and there are some definite must-have products like the gloss I mentioned. Which, by the way–you could purchase in EVERY single color for about half the price of one Hanky Panky thong.

Talk about a panty dropper.

  1. As much as I love the cheapo product that e.l.f. offers, I totally agree with keeping your designer foundation. That’s one thing you don’t want to skimp on. The $1 blushes and shadows really can’t be beat though.

  2. I made the mistake of getting the eyeliner from here. Don’t waste your dollar! Or just buy some shadow with it instead.

  3. Update: After work yesterday I promptly went to Target and bought a new blush and lipstick from you-kn0w-who.

  4. […] blush in Headliner ($3): This soft, creamy, highly-pigmented blush is not only ridiculously cheap (remember my e.l.f. outburst?), but 100 PERCENT of its profits this month are going to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. […]
